With a strong emphasis on presence, consistency, and compassion, the manager plays a vital role in protecting both people and the mission, while creating a culture that reflects Christ’s love. This position also functions as a ministry leader, actively sharing the hope of Jesus with guests and modeling Gospel-centered engagement for the team. The manager encourages guests toward faith, recovery and real transformation while equipping staff to do the same.

Essential Responsibility 2: Safety and Incident Response

  • Maintain a visible, steady presence on campus and respond directly to behavioral or emergency situations.
  • Ensure all guests entering or re-entering the building pass through a metal detector and search process each time they return.
  • Lead or support emergency preparedness efforts, including drills and protocols for fire, severe weather, active shooter, and medical emergencies.
  • Oversee documentation of all incidents in Mission Tracker and ensure timely escalation to leadership.
  • Monitor and maintain safety systems, including radio communications, cameras, alarms, panic buttons, and AEDs.
  • Conduct routine walkthroughs and safety inspections of the campus to identify hazards, observe guest activity, and collaborate with staff on necessary corrective actions.

Essential Responsibility 3: Campus Environment and Hospitality

  • Promote a consistent culture of love, safety, and accountability in all guest interactions.
  • Address guest behavior in alignment with shelter rules and a faith-based approach of love and compassion.
  • Ensure common areas are clean, welcoming, and conducive to a healthy community environment.
  • Support other departments in enforcing expectations, coordinating walkthroughs, and maintaining campus order.

Essential Responsibility 4: Ministry & Engagement

  • Model the Gospel in word and deed, offering hope, truth, and encouragement to guests.
  • Lead your team in ministry, helping staff share the Gospel, pray with guests, and encourage participation in church and recovery meetings.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with guests while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Minister in moments of crisis or opportunity, pointing people to Christ.

Essential Responsibility 5: Community & Compliance Coordination

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with local emergency services, including law enforcement, fire, and EMS.
  • Ensure alignment with local and state regulations and safety compliance standards.
  • Participate in the review and refinement of emergency procedures and guest conduct policies.
  • Stay current on trends in campus security, trauma-informed care, and community shelter best practices.
