- Sunday & Tuesday 6pm – 10pm (10 hrs)
- Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays 5:30pm – 11pm (13.5 hrs)
- Two positions can be combined for 23.5 hours Additional hours available on call plus in other locations
Job Description
Supportive Living Services (SLS) is a program designed to support adults with developmental disabilities who live in their own homes. The Life Skills Coach does exactly that – coach adults on life skills. We assist individuals with goals they set for themselves in order to live their best, most fulfilling, independent lives. Every day is different, and each day you can make a difference.
In this position, a few examples of the type of work you will be doing may include assisting the client with learning daily skills such as menu planning, grocery shopping, cooking, budgeting, cleaning, and using public transportation. The LSC will assist the consumer with medical and dental appointments. The LSC will assist the consumer with transportation when working on individual service plan objectives and services.
Other duties as needed; including but not limited to:
- Provide in-home and community based assistance to consumers according to individual service programs set up by Alta California Regional Center and New Start SLS.
- Teaching and assisting all consumers in the areas outlined in individual service program.
- To report any issues and concerns regarding consumers to New Start Case Manager.
- Documenting daily charting notes.
- Attending in-service training sessions when offered.
- Assist with special events when needed.
- This client uses an electric or manual wheelchairs and requires personal care assistance. This position includes assisting the client with assistive equipment, lift, shower chairs, and rolling.
SLS Hiring Qualifications
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have current CPR First Aid certification or be willing to become certified.
- Must be able to pass a DOJ Live Scan Background Check.
- Must show evidence of a negative TB test within 90 days of hire.
- Must be able to work with and support people who have disabilities. Must have at least 1 year experience in caregiving, education or working/volunteering with individuals with disabilities or have equivalent education.
- If driving clients must have possession and proof of a valid California Drivers License, current vehicle insurance, a good driving record from the DMV, and be willing to use personal vehicle during course of employment.
- Grass Valley SLS Pay Range: $22 per hour
