This position is an in home and community-based caregiving position. Staff will be responsible for assisting clients with meeting the Individual Service Plan goals they set for themselves. We are currently hiring for both Part-time and Full-time positions. $18-19/hr depending on experience. *21/hr for CNA with current certification.
- Saturday/Sunday 8A-2P
- Weekend Overnights: Saturday 11P-8A and Sunday 11P-9A
- Wednesday-Sunday 4P-10P
*These shifts may require the employee to drive clients - which means a clean driving record and proof of insurance will be required.

New Start SLS is the Supportive Living Services company who helps the client hire, manage, and schedule all IHSS staff.
The Life Skills Coach does exactly that – coach adults on life skills. We work with adults with developmental disabilities who live independently and wish to be more independent. The Life Skills Coach (LSC) will assist the client with learning daily skills such as menu planning, grocery shopping and cooking, budgeting, cleaning, and using public transportation. The LSC will assist the consumer with medical and dental appointments. The LSC will assist the consumer with transportation when working on individual service plan objectives and services. These are a few examples of the type of work you will be doing.
The client uses an electric or manual wheelchair and requires some personal care assistance. We are looking for someone to assist with preparing dinner for her and her husband each night – she loves to cook! The ideal candidate also will support them in keeping their home neat. They like a positive attitude in her home.
SLS Life Skills Coach Job Description/Duties:
The Life Skills Coach does exactly that – coach adults on life skills. We work with adults with developmental disabilities who live independently and wish to be more independent. The Life Skills Coach (LSC) will assist the client with learning daily skills such as menu planning, grocery shopping and cooking, budgeting, cleaning, and using public transportation. The LSC will assist the consumer with medical and dental appointments. The LSC will assist the consumer with transportation when working on individual service plan objectives and services. These are a few examples of the type of work you will be doing.
Other duties as needed; including but not limited to:
- To provide in-home and community-based assistance to consumers according to individual service programs set up by Alta California Regional Center and New Start.
- To Teach and assist all consumers in the areas outlined in the individual service program.
- To document daily charting notes
- To report any issues and concerns regarding consumers to New Start Case Manager.
- To attend in-service training sessions when offered.
- To assist with special events when needed.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in caregiving, education, or working with people with disabilities
HIRING CRITERIA AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must show evidence of a negative TB test within 90 days
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint DOJ background check.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
- Must be able to work with people who have disabilities.
- Must have at least 1 year experience in caregiving, education, or working/volunteering with people with disabilities or equivalent education (please describe in Cover Letter or Resume)
- Possession and proof of a valid California Driver’s License, vehicle insurance, a good driving record, and willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment if driving clients.
