What are the responsibilities and job description for the SLPA position at Newport City Schools?
The Newport City Elementary School is seeking innovative and energetic speech language pathology assistants to join their team. This is a school year position. Newport City Elementary School’s mission is to educate the whole child to become a caring, productive participant of the community.
Responsibilities include:
•Direct speech/language intervention with students K thru Grade 6, working with individuals and small groups.
•Consultation with SLP and teachers.
•Researching, designing visual schedules, data keeping, clerical work and documentation, preparing materials, analyzing classroom observation/intervention data.
•Using technology in language therapy.
•Providing support for hearing devices including hearing aids, sound field systems and personal FM systems
•Designing home programs.
Qualifications include:
•Completion of Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A) Program and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology strongly preferred.
•Familiarity with board maker and other related software a plus.

Salary and benefits: Per the collective agreement. The approximate salary range is between $21.00 and 24.00 an hour, based on experience.
