Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position
Provide leadership, oversight, and management of all execution of all accounts for the Division of Research and Economic Development.
Examine budgets and expenditures for compliance with applicable University budgetary guidelines, state budget rules, legislative intent, and federal and state laws.
Provide consultation, technical assistance, and coordination in the preparation and execution of the DORED operating budget and any special project budgets administered by the Vice Chancellor of DORED, including research projects, contracts, grants or special funding for faculty and student support.
Evaluate methodologies used in the preparation of fiscal budget requests and spending forecasts to improve the accuracy of projections for the next fiscal year.
Evaluate program, policy, and rule changes by University and North Carolina State Budget Office to determine their fiscal and program impact and to assure compliance with federal and state requirements.
Review and evaluate requests for contracts and purchase orders to ensure consistency with state, federal, and sponsoring agency guidelines. Identify risk and adverse issues generated in budget and program activities, present appropriate issues, and recommend solutions to Vice Chancellor to ensure that division goals and outcomes are effectively supported.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Division of Research and Economic Development (DORED) manages N.C. A&T’s research enterprise. DORED provides services to faculty and student researchers, to current and potential research partners, funding agencies, and economic development agencies.
