North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Community Development Coordinator based in the Ridgway, PA office. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
OBJECTIVE:
The Community Development Coordinator is responsible for providing additional regional capacity, technical assistance, administration towards the delivery of programs, grant writing services and the planning, development and implementation of the organization’s marketing, communications, and public relations activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:
1. Work as a liaison between local governments and nonprofit organizations to help identify and acquire grant resources for community/economic development, tourism/recreation, infrastructure, etc.
2. Write high-quality grant proposal narratives, applications and supporting documents.
3. Develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to market the new community capacity program, broaden awareness of the program and increase visibility across key stakeholder audiences
4. Conducting research to analyze the regional landscape, market trends and customer behavior and preparing reports by collecting, summarizing, and analyzing data to be used in grants proposals
5. Planning and managing regional activities such as community conferences, events, and meetings by identifying, coordinating, and assembling requirements, developing assignments and schedules, coordinating mailing lists and establishing contacts.
6. Ability to craft articles, press releases, success stories and testimonials for electronic newsletters, reports, publications, and other forms of media
7. Identify effective marketing and promotional channels, including media platforms to be used to relay program/project messages to regional stakeholders
8. Can learn and maintain technical knowledge of the subject matter from federal and state programs and grant opportunities.
9. Ability to work remotely and to have Internet access to assure that tasks and activities can be completed during pandemics and other disasters
REPORTS PREPARED:
Various reports may be requested such as but not limited to monthly progress, financial, project profiles and annual program reports
INTERFACE:
Internal - Must interface positively with other North Central staff and departments to promote the vision and mission of the commission.
External –Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff, management, committee members, Boards, partners, government representatives, state and federal agencies, elected officials and other clientele on services/programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education – Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience – One or more years of experience with grant writing. One or more years of experience in nonprofit, government, public relations, or public administration with strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate clearly with various departments including graphic design, public relations, and advertising, as well as with local officials, contractors, and the public or a combination of relevant education and experience
