Summary:
Perform day-to-day functions of the clinics Eyecare department. Assisting with patient intake, preliminary testing and administrative tasks to ensure smooth clinic operations, a welcoming environment and excellent patient experiences while exemplifying a patient-centered service demeanor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Answers phone calls

Registers new patients
-
Verifies patient data/insurance information in Electronic Health Record (EHR) and update when needed
-
Acts as a liaison between patients and Optometrist(s) to assure patient continuity of care

Assists patients with questions and helps direct them to the proper clinic resources

Greets and checks in all patients and visitors.

Collects payment for services (i.e.) copays
-
Monitors patient wait times and notifies patients of delays
-
Prepare patients for eye exams and procedures
-
Performs threshold visual field exams, OCT scans and Retinal Photographs
-
Record patient medical histories and update electronic health records (EHR)
-
Perform preliminary vision tests (e.g., visual acuity, tonometry, autorefraction)

Assist with contact lens fittings and patient education
-
Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and equipment
-
Schedule appointments (initial and follow up) and manage patient flow
-
Support optometrists during procedures and follow-up care

Ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinic protocols

Assist Pediatric Medicaid patients in selecting frames
-
Order and dispense eyewear to Pediatric Medicaid patients
-
Perform adjustments and minor repairs to eyewear for Pediatric Medicaid patients

Qualifications
Education: High School Graduate or GED Equivalent. Minimum experience required. Previous experience in customer service / medical service, a plus.

Attendance: Regular attendance and punctuality are expected and required.
Physical Demands:

Viewing the computer for 8 hours.
Work Environment: Fast-paced community health center setting, potential exposure to infectious diseases, interaction with diverse patient population.
