Overnight - Behavioral Health Supervisor

Crisis Stabilization Services

 

Crisis Programs receive an additional 5.5% Program Differential

 

Shift:

  • Thursday: Midnight – 6:00 am
  • Thursday – Saturday: 6:000 pm – 6:00 am

Position Summary:


Behavioral Health Supervisors are major members of the Crisis Stabilization Services team. Our supervisors provide day-to-day supervision and oversight of other staff as directed by the Program Director. Assist the Program Director/Coordinator with administrative tasks. Participates in management, policy and procedure, and personnel development, and attends meetings as assigned by the Program Director. Serves as an agency liaison as directed. Participates as a member of the team to implement individual care plans for clients with mental health and/or substance use challenges following the applicable policies, rules, regulations, and directives of the organization(s). Facilitates client participation and assures security for clients by monitoring and supervising the facility and services delivered at the facility. Manages intakes, discharges, and transport responsibilities and provides crisis intervention services/support.

Crisis Stabilization Services (CSS) provides support for individuals through the Acute Treatment Unit and Withdrawal Management (Detox).  CSS Understand the needs of customers who struggle with both mental health and substance use disorders. We provide individual counseling, medication monitoring, case management, group counseling, withdrawal management, and discharge aftercare planning.

 

Duties Performed:

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities within the scope of practice for applicable credentials held following the organization’s policies and applicable laws. May support the supervision of up to six Behavioral Health Workers.
  • Assign job responsibilities, delegate appropriately, and monitor follow-up on assignments to ensure client and program needs are addressed and priorities are managed promptly.
  • Assume responsibilities of supervision of the program as directed by the Program Director and/or Program Coordinator.
  • Train new employees in facility and agency processes (i.e. intake, client orientation, discharge, etc.). Assure all new employees gain the necessary certifications and training for the facility requirements. Review and document the progress of employees.
  • Forward and/or consult with the Program Director/Program Coordinator regarding personnel or administrative concerns, and disciplinary actions that require a higher level of decision-making. May make recommendations for termination.
  • Prepare for and attend staff meetings/training sessions and effectively communicate agency information to employees. May participate in management-level meetings as directed by supervisor.
  • Actively participate in updating and maintaining policy and procedure manuals for the facility by providing and incorporating feedback from others.
  • Provide input, screening, and assessment activities regarding complex client cases to determine appropriate interventions, including holdovers.
  • Arrange for schedule coverage when an assigned worker(s) cannot report to work as scheduled; create and or revise the master schedule.
  • Represent the organization to outside inquiries from police, hospitals, probation, etc., or refer to appropriate resources. Inform the Program Director/Coordinator of problems and/or situations that require resolution, internal or external.
  • Inventory medications from one shift to the next. Assist in monitoring and managing client use of medications and the management of those medications. Ensure that medications are available to clients as prescribed and facilitate refill orders and coordination with doctors when necessary.
  • May be responsible for balancing petty cash and assuring proper change in moneybags.
  • Assist in the client admission process including orientation, training, and other activities to maximize the client’s position adjustment to the setting. Assure that clients comply with the program rules, guidelines, and directives while they participate in all aspects of daily living and treatment within the facility and outside the facility when instructed.
  • Observe client behavior to identify changes or indicators of special needs and report those observations to designated staff as they occur. May assess and counsel clients on a one-to-one basis, conduct groups, and perform family counseling as needed following applicable credentials and program assignments.
  • Participate in the delivery of group care activities and serve as assistant to the clinical staff in treatment events as requested. Assure facilitation of meal service and staff participation with clients during mealtimes, as well as wellness checks and breaks, as indicated by client care plans.
  • Function as a crisis intervention specialist when required to implement response plans for a client demonstrating difficult behaviors, for health emergencies, or natural disasters.
  • Use appropriate de-escalation, seclusion, and/or restraining techniques when necessary. Demonstrate competency in the use of time outs, token economy, and therapeutic privacy. Therapeutic physical restraint, and locked time out as behavioral interventions as appropriate for the facility and situation.

 

Education/Credentials:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • 2 Years of experience in a behavioral health role.
  • Bilingual Skills (English/Spanish) desired
  • Medication Aide Certification is highly desired, although training can be completed post-hire.
  • CPR certification/first aid training within the first 6 months of employment
  • A Valid Driver’s license and a driving record that meets agency insurability requirements is required.
