Job Description: Activities Coordinator
Location: Northeast Adult Day Care
Position Type: Part-Time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Northeast Adult Day Care is seeking a compassionate and creative Part-Time Activities Coordinator to design, coordinate, and lead engaging therapeutic recreational programs tailored to meet the unique needs of adults and seniors, including individuals living with dementia.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a variety of stimulating, person-centered activities aimed at enhancing cognitive, emotional, and physical well-being, with a focus on dementia-friendly programming.
- Train, support, and guide other staff members in conducting activities designed for individuals with cognitive impairments.
- Create a monthly activity calendar that balances therapeutic, social, and recreational goals, ensuring it meets the needs of participants with varying abilities.
- Lead both small and large group activities, adapting as needed to the abilities and preferences of participants with dementia.
- Maintain a safe, engaging, and supportive environment, incorporating dementia care best practices into all activities.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma required.
- Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience working with the elderly, especially those living with dementia, is required.
- Previous experience planning and implementing therapeutic activities is a must.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use creativity and flexibility to adapt activities for participants with cognitive challenges.
- Intermediate computer skills required.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday (part-time hours).
Work Location: In-person at Northeast Adult Day Care.
