Responsibilities:

• • Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly activity schedules tailored to residents with dementia.
  • Ensure activities are varied, engaging, and suitable for different stages of dementia.
  • Adapt activities to meet individual residents’ needs and preferences.
  • Encourage and assist residents in participating in activities.
  • Provide one-on-one support to residents who require additional assistance.
  • Foster a positive and stimulating environment to enhance residents' well-being.
  • Assess residents’ interests, abilities, and needs through observation and direct interaction.
  • Document resident participation and responses to activities.
  • Report any changes in residents' conditions to the Activities Director or nursing staff.
  • Work closely with nursing staff, therapists, and other aides to coordinate care and activities.
  • Communicate effectively with residents’ families to provide updates and receive input on care plans.
  • Involve volunteers and train them to assist with activities.
  • Ensure the safety of residents during activities by following established protocols and guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized activity area.
  • Adhere to all nursing home policies, state regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education related to dementia care and activity planning.
  • Stay updated on best practices and new research in dementia care and therapeutic activities.

Requirements:

• • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in dementia care or therapeutic recreation preferred.
  • Previous experience working with elderly individuals, particularly those with dementia.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for residents with dementia.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to assist residents with mobility and participate in activities.
  • The job may require standing, walking, and assisting residents for extended periods.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend shifts depending on activity schedules.

Compensation:

• Rate will be commensurate with experience.
