Assist library patrons in meeting their information needs. Promote an atmosphere conducive to learning. Maintain multimedia equipment and records. Support faculty and staff with multimedia needs to provide an excellent educational experience for the students. Help maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning.
Duties and Responsibilities
The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Be informed about and apply knowledge of library collections, services & equipment. Assist with library instruction and collection maintenance.
Processing NICC content & events for online streaming.
Assist library patrons in locating material and information from various sources, and on the use of the computers, databases, and photocopiers.
Check in and out materials and multimedia equipment. Keep patron information confidential. Assist with preparation of library cards and assess overdue/lost material fines and fees according to NICC policy.
Sort returned library material according to the classification code and return them to shelves, files, or other designated storage areas.
Check in and process periodicals and newspapers.
Inventory periodicals at the end of the year, keep records and statistics up to date.
Use automated room reservation system to record reservation requests and report statistics.
Responsible for keeping the Vertical File information up to date.
Collecting statistics of use of library materials and providing reports as requested.
Promote the library with special displays, posters, and programs.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree or equivalent preferred. Library experience preferred.
Able to relate to students, staff and the general public. Excellent communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Proficient in secretarial, keyboarding, organizational, record keeping and computer skills. Familiar with multimedia equipment operation, trouble-shooting and maintenance.
