Schedule: 15 hours a week during the school year and up to 10 hours a week in the Summer
Job Summary
Reporting to the Dean of Humanities, the Writing Center Advanced Tutor is responsible for tutoring students on an appointment and walk-in basis. The Advanced Tutor is responsible for general office administration of the Writing Center that may include schedule and calendar maintenance, training of work study students, and general on-campus marketing.
Job Duties
* Conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions.
* Assist students with building their writing skills.
* Schedule tutoring appointments as requested.
* Answer phone and email inquiries from students and faculty regarding the Writing Center.
* Assist the Writing Center Administrator with maintaining office records, scheduling, internal marketing, promotion, and outreach.
* Conduct writing workshops for classes as requested
* Maintain budget records for the Writing Center
* Participate in training.
* Complete other assignments as directed by supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
* Experience teaching or tutoring English
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree or higher from an accredited institution
* At least two years experience teaching English
* Conversational ability or fluency in a second language
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Technology Skills: MS Office Suite; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems; Adobe software
* Capable of maintaining empathy, positivity, patience, and professionalism
