Position Information:
The College of Chiropractic at NWHSU is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic full-time faculty member to teach technique courses in our Department of Chiropractic Studies. Duties include laboratory instruction of chiropractic evaluation and treatment techniques, providing frequent and formative feedback to students, performing assessments aligned with the course objectives, and assisting in course management. University committee work, assignment for student mentoring, teaching within other departments, and clinical opportunities may also be expected.
This faculty member must enjoy working with a team of committed individuals and is student-centered in their approach to education. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has excellent communication skills, is technology savvy, and works well within a collaborative environment. This individual must have a passion for teaching and motivation to evolve and adapt to current best practice in teaching and learning.
This is a year-round, faculty position where academic rank and compensation will be determined by qualifications and experience.
Course Assignment Specifics: Specific courses will be assigned within the department and will include the entire range of Chiropractic technique classes, Diagnosis and Management, Therapy classes, and/or Philosophy classes. The faculty member will assume dual roles as both the primary instructor and secondary instructor dependent on the course.
Teaching opportunities outside the department, as well as clinical supervision may also be available, and would be assigned based on individual expertise and experience, as well as the needs of the College of Chiropractic.
Work Location: Bloomington, MN with flexibility to work 1 day per week remotely and 4 days per week on-campus; must live local and be able to come to campus as needed.
Duties:
- Instruction of chiropractic technique labs with daily student interaction that includes demonstrating procedures and techniques, patient evaluation, diagnosis, and assessment
- Assist the primary instructor with developing and improving class content that is consistent across the College of Chiropractic departments and clinical environment
- As a secondary instructor, support lead instructors in developing laboratory lesson plans that aide in the development of clinical skills and provide opportunities to apply knowledge in a hands-on setting.
- Assist with Force Sensing Table and other simulated adjusting systems.
- Provide emergency coverage of classes and lectures if a lead instructor suddenly becomes unavailable.
- Assist in the assessment of student skills via practical, and competency exams
- Monitor and evaluate major assessment measures of student learning pertaining to department courses and curricular threads.
- Assist in developing Assessments and manage and update course LMS pages.
- Determine and develop corrective action as needed for continuous quality improvement of student outcomes specific to courses and curricular threads.
- Advise and mentor students while maintaining a responsive and respectful student learning experience.
- Respond timely to student concerns regarding courses and attempt to resolve concerns according to established processes and approvals.
- Act as a supervising doctor for the clinical learning environment when needed.
- Attend university and college related events (ex. White Coat Ceremony, commencement, orientation, committee meetings)
- Enhance clinical and academic knowledge through scholarly activity
- Demonstrates a commitment to service within the institution, profession, and community
What you need to have?
- Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree from an accredited institution required
- Active Minnesota chiropractic license required
- Commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service
- Knowledge of adjustive procedures using high velocity, low amplitude thrusts
- Experience in graduate or undergraduate teaching, assessment, and/or practice, preferred
