Environmental Department Manager (Phase I / II ESAs)

NOVA Engineering & Environmental is hiring an Environmental Department Manager based out of the Raleigh, North Carolina office. This candidate will oversee a team of 3 direct reports and will work on projects throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. Primary responsibilities will include the day-to-day execution of project assignments and consultation to NOVA’s clients associated with the following environmental services: Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Phase II ESAs, Brownfields documentation (Applications, Work Plans, Environmental Management Plans, Voluntary Cleanup Contracts, etc.), Inactive Hazardous Sites Branch (IHSB) notifications, etc.

Essential Functions:

Specifically, your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a team of 3 direct reports 
• Preparing and executing reports and other client correspondence
• Providing oversight, QA/QC, analysis, laboratory testing and field services as required to meet our clients’ expectations
• Client consultation and maintenance
• Sales and marketing efforts to develop new business and grow the company
• Preparation of proposals and contract documents 
• Assistance to other NOVA team members to promote the overall objectives of the company.

 Required Experience/Qualifications:

• 10 years of Environmental Consulting experience
• Professional Geologist (P.G.) or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is highly preferred
• Project experience with Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessment (ESAs) is required

 Beneficial Experience:

• Soil & groundwater sampling

• Risk Assessment
• Indoor Air Quality
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

Positions require ability to lift and/or move 35-100 pounds occasionally. Must be able to accomplish field tasks under adverse weather and/or site conditions. Working environment can be moderately noisy to loud in nature. Some assignments may require working in confined spaces or climbing and working at above average heights. May be exposed to humidity, extreme temperatures, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Good vision and manual dexterity required. Must be computer literate and able to operate most field/lab/office machinery relating to one’s discipline.
