The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (NCMHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. Each year, we serve over 10,000 people with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more. Salary: "Please note that the job posting rate for this position is $12.28 to $15.10, the salary offered will follow the starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the minimum of the salary range. However, a salary may be negotiated above the minimum range depending on applicable years of experience and qualifications."
Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly
General Description
Perform health and safety duties as assigned at each Center site. Duties include community engagement with staff, consumers, and visitors, involvement in the emergency response to various incidents, routine checks of facility, grounds, and parking areas to mitigate and report health and safety hazards, safety inspections, lock and alarm checks, incident reporting, and other duties as assigned by the Health & Safety Supervisor. Use of verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques. Shift hours and job duties may change to support the needs of the CenterMinimum Qualifications
- High School graduate or GED.
- Minimum requirement of one year of Customer Service or security work experience.
- One year work experience at an entity similar to a State Supported Living Center, a State Hospital, or public hospital is preferred.
- Education may be substituted for experience.
- Must have reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business. Must have a valid driver's license at all times, liability insurance, and a good driving record.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Exhibits excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Community engagement with staff, consumers, and visitors.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Perform reports/documentation to include (but not limited to) Incident Reports, Vendor Logs, Janitor Logs, and any others as they are needed.
- Amicably resolves conflicts or confrontations between staff, visitors, individuals served, or other persons at assigned site.
- Serves individuals by answering questions, providing support, and giving directions to areas of buildings or offices.
- Investigates, documents & reports suspicious activity.
- Enhances organization by analyzing operating practices; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Attends all trainings and meetings as directed.
- Use of two-way radios, or a similar device to communicate with other staff on-site.
- Perform company vehicle inspections as needed.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Maintain attendance with your designated shift established by the Supervisor and communicate in the event this cannot be met.
- Ability to apply common sense in carrying out job responsibilities.
- Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in interacting with internal/external customers.
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a large Center.
- Ability to interact with staff and consumers with a high degree of professionalism.
- Ability to multi-task.
- In the course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices.
