What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wholesale Planner position at NYC Alliance Company LLC?
Our Wholesale Planner will be responsible for setting plans, forecasting sales trends and inventory needs, in order to help maximize profitability and minimize losses. This individual will also collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, customer service, marketing, and design, in order to ensure customer-centric decisions are being made.
Responsibilities
- Develop annual plans at all levels of the hierarchy that meet company’s financial goals
- Support the monthly budget process by forecasting shipping and margin with emphasis on achieving financial and merchandise objectives
- Act as business partner to recommend chase opportunities based on in-season trend or to offset deficit to plans. Track risks/opportunities and make call outs in regard to effect on last forecast
- Compile hindsight analysis reporting for use in future planning and forecasting
- Weekly topside sales and inventory reporting and analysis presented weekly to management team to develop action plans
- Produce customized ad-hoc customer reporting for market appointments
- Conduct a thorough monthly review of on order and identify risks or opportunities as it relates to achieving monthly sales and gross margin goals
- Key partner in understanding customer OTB, profitability and markdown allowance requests
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external business partners; ideal candidate is collaborative with strong communication skills
- Monitor and track KPI’s monthly with quarterly reviews focused on continuous improvement
- Bachelor’s degree in merchandising, finance, accounting, economics, or related field
- 5 years of experience in retail planning or related field with understanding of basic financial principles
- Strong analytical skills and ability to think critically
- Retail planning background is a plus
- Preferred to have experience managing a direct report
- Proficiency in Excel and experience handling large data sets
- Knowledge of retail math and inventory management principles
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
