The school opened at Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Film Center in New York City, and has expanded worldwide to include campuses in New York; Los Angeles; Miami; and Gold Coast, Australia.

The mission of the New York Film Academy is to educate students interested in the field of visual storytelling. NYFA courses have been designed to increase students’ creativity and technical expertise through an intense regimen of hands-on and classroom instruction. The Academy’s goal is to enrich its students as visual storytellers by helping them realize their personal artistic visions. NYFA’s expectations center on the growth of each student as a creative individual. NYFA is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:   

 

The Financial Aid Administrator is responsible to meet with students to give introductory overviews of Federal Student Aid programs and complete overviews of tuition and housing costs.  Position is located at the New  York Film Academy (NYFA) – New York Campus.  

 

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The day-to-day duties required of this position may vary.

 

Financial Aid Support Tasks -

  • Provides introductory overviews of Federal Student Aid (FSA) programs to prospective applicants via phone, email or in person.
  • Advises FSA applicants offering support through the Federal Student Aid (FSA) application or FAFSA.
  • Assists the Financial Aid office during registration with the completion of all required financial aid documentation.
  • Confirms the eligibility of FSA living expense checks.
  • Responds to student questions regarding living expense funding and the timely delivery of living expense checks.

 

Financial Administrator Tasks -

  • Meets with prospective applicants to offer a complete overview of tuition and housing costs providing resources to applicants researching tuition assistance.
  • Provides premier customer service to all prospective students and campus partners.
  • Partners with Admissions Team to review applicants financial readiness to attend NYFA.
  • Discusses tuition discounts available to students through New York Film Academy.
  • Attends open houses.
  • Completes file verification
  • Awards students using Federal methodology.
  • Updates all systems with notes regarding student file status.
  • Researches all forms of non-Federal funding sources for students including international funding sources and private education loans.
  •  Prepares tuition payment plans.
  • Contacts continuing students to secure and confirm future semester funding.
  • Researches student accounts identifying students with un-paid balances.
  • Contacts students for collection of un-paid balances placing students on hold for re-registration when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Broad knowledge and experience federal compliance, customer service and counseling methods.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team with other Financial Aid staff members.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with fellow campus partners.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.  Must include Excel and skills in database management and record keeping.
  • Ethical / Honest - evidence of the practice of a high level confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Service and Action oriented – does what it takes to meet the expectations of customers.
  • Collaborative – enlists information from all sources to ensure the best solution to an issue.

 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:

 

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree or equivalent in industry experience and proven success.
  • 2 years experience in higher education.       
  • Minimum of 2-3 years in higher education in capacity of Student Financials.
  • Experience working in a fast pace, multi-tasking, results drive environment with attention to detail.
