What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Law Attorney position at O’Connor Family Law?
Seeking an experienced family law attorney who is seeking the support of a team but with the autonomy necessary to not feel micromanaged to join our firm.
OCFL is a family law firm that also puts the needs of our team and their families first. We get if you want to be home for your child's first day of school. We get the last minute schedule changes because your furry pet needs an emergency trip to the vet. We get that our clients and their families are incredibly important, but that our team and their families are just as important.
So, what we have devised is a compensation plan that requires a monthly, quarterly, and annual minimum hour and collection requirement that we believe allows for a good work/life balance and the flexibility necessary that life often requires. However, for those who want to go above and beyond, your additional incentive pay will reflect that effort where you can earn $150k plus after your first full year with us.
We aren't looking for rainmakers. We are lucky enough that we have plenty of people who want to retain us. What we are looking for though is for someone who really cares about the clients and the service that is provided and who has a good deal of common sense. We want someone who isn't looking to just get the job done, but wants to help the client feel truly heard and understood. We want someone who clients can trust with what they hold dearest - their lives, their children, and their futures.
We have locations in both Hanover and Westborough, but we collectively practice in the majority of the counties in the state, so the ability to travel to court is required. However, after the training period and depending upon your work quality, you will be able to work virtually if you choose. However, if you work best in an office setting, one is available as well. We'd prefer someone currently who is closer to the Westborough location, but so long as you're willing to drive to court and the office when necessary, location isn't as big as a factor.
MUST HAVE:
- Valid current license to practice law in Massachusetts in good standing (Rhode Island as well a plus)
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to all courts within Massachusetts as necessary
- Common sense (we know everyone thinks they have this, so we will be asking questions to see if you actually do have it)
- A desire to constantly learn and grow both personally and professionally while also being able to admit if a mistake was made and take action to immediately correct it and ensure it doesn't happen again
- Experience in family law (preferably 2-5 years) (We are going to be hiring two junior associates as well, so if you don't have this experience, go look for that job ad!)
- The ability to juggle a caseload of between 40-60 cases, depending upon complexity and needs of each case
- Willingness to work as part of a team and support everyone's professional growth while providing top notch legal representation and care to our clients
Benefits upon qualification: QSEHRA Plan, 401k Match, Unlimited Paid Time Off, Mileage Reimbursement, Expense Reimbursement, Continue Learning Education, and we are working toward adding others as well.
