POSITION SUMMARY:
The Health Clinic Manager job entails adequately assess resident’s situations and address clinical concerns prudently. Communication is critical and must feel confident in effectively recommending and communicating the appropriate course of action or level of care. This position will serve as a liaison between residents, their families and their primary care physician. The Health Clinic Manager ensures holistic care approach is provided and will weave all the dimensions of wellness (spiritual, social, physical, vocational, emotional, and intellectual) in the interest of resident. This position requires active participation in the Care Coordination team meetings, takes the role of the Infection Prevention nurse and provide support and consultation to the clinical team in Assisted Living. Works closely with physicians who are care partners of O’Connor Woods and the Quality Improvement team at Eskaton.

The Health Clinic Manager reports directly to the Executive Director.

The Health Clinic Manager reports directly to the Executive Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conducts assessment on prospective residents to assure OCW can provide quality care in relation to the resident needs.
- Provides oversight of for Infection Control including but not limited to reporting to the Executive Director of all findings, tracking the area where the illness originated, develop preventive measures to reduce/eliminate future occurrences, assure staff are provided education on the procedure during an illness, maintain continuity in staff cases to assure consistency across campus and maintain detailed records electronically for future reference.
- Respond to campus emergencies as needed.
- Maintain residents’ records accurately and thoroughly in the EHR system.
- Ensure pre-employment and annual staff medical records are ready for audit at all times.
- Provide or coordinate staff annual TB and flu injections timely.
- Assure communication is provided to appropriate managers for staff annual physicals.
- Provides direct patient care suggestions/assignment to the care team in accordance with skill level and scope of practice.
- Monitor and control labor costs and department budget through proper staff scheduling, thorough applicant interviews and hiring and supplies expenses.
- Manage staff timecards to meet deadlines for payroll processing and in accordance to policy.
- Conduct regularly scheduled department meetings and maintain sign-in/training sheets for each staff.
- Hold staff equally accountable to fulfil the duties of their position requirements, to policy and the O’Connor Woods Mission and Core Values.
- Promote a culture of safe work ethics, teamwork and unity with all other departments.
- Attend all necessary company or department meetings including required meetings at the Eskaton Support Center.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance in daily, weekly monthly functions.
- Reviews/approves or communicates with staff regarding PTO requests or Ca Sick requests.
- Completes staff evaluations (provisional, extended and annual) timely and thoroughly.
- Process staff disciplines, coaching, improvement plans as needed in accordance to policy.
- Develop staff by providing advanced training for career advancement opportunities or prepare staff for departmental transfers for growth opportunities.
- Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times.
- The ability to maintain business/professional boundaries with all staff, management and outside vendors.
- Maintains compliance with company policy.
- Responds to all verbal and written communication within 24 hours of receipt.
- Attends and participates in Department meetings.
- Assists with special projects as needed.
- Ensures the safety, health and welfare of staff and residents at all times.
- Provides encouragement, guidance and resources to staff and residents when needed.
- Acts as a positive role model and mentor for staff.
- Adheres to company policies and Corporate Compliance and Ethics Program Code of Conduct.
- Other duties as assigned from direct supervisor and/or department Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years old or older.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- California RN state licensure, current, active and in good standing.
- Current/active CPR certification.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory/managerial RN position required, preferably in a long-term care facility or other related health care facility.
- Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long term care
- Thorough documentation skills including grammatical, spelling and organization.
- If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements to be an eligible driver. Must possess a current State Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years.
- The ability to read, write and communicate to residents, staff, families, vendors, and all business relationships in English language.
- Ability to pass a criminal background clearance check, drug screen, physical and TB test.
- Able to work in excess of 40 hours per week (upon Dept. Director approval) with the possibility of a varied schedule.
- Must have excellent organization and time management skills.
- Must be able to communicate with all levels of staff in an effective, neutral and professional manner.
- Ability to function as a member of the team in a multi-task environment.
- Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and changing business conditions.
