Job Purpose:
The Part-Time Special Events Supervisor is responsible for maintaining an inviting, positive, and safe environment at Cheney Mansion, Pleasant Home and planned community special events. The Supervisor is expected to be visible and engaged in daily activities in and around the facilities, grounds and specified parks. The Supervisor assists with client meetings, planning, set up and staging of special events and programs.
Essential Functions:
- Manage and answer rental inquiries, provide tours to potential clients and followup after tours in a timely manner.
- Schedule and conduct tours, walk-throughs and all other showings to potential and designated clients
- Supervise Event Staff during events and act as point of contact during event.
- Assist client with event planning when needed
- Maintain all phone and email communication.
- Maintain and communicate regulations and policy to outside vendors
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive public image when working with patrons by addressing questions and concerns from vendors, patrons, and clients. Become familiar with the history of Cheney Mansion and Pleasant Home and conduct tours as needed.
- Assist with preparation of Cheney Mansion and Pleasant Home for special events and programs. This includes opening the 2nd and 3rd floors for events, opening restrooms and making the facility available for vendors, clients and/or patrons. This may also include the set up and take down of tables, chairs, and equipment used in special programs and closing up floors not in use at the conclusion of an event.
- Report maintenance needs to Manager. Clean facilities including restrooms and pick up garbage from grounds as needed. Following special events and programs return facility to a clean, safe condition.
- Wear proper attire for special events as directed.
- Attend staff meetings and training programs as specified.
- Complete other duties as assigned by Manager or other Park District administrative personnel.
- Assist with functions where alcohol is served.
Knowledge, Skill, and Work Experience Required:
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- Certification in advanced Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 1 month of employment and keep certification current. The District provides this training.
- Must have the ability to solve problems as they arise and be able to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
- Must be highly motivated and able to assume a positive and active role on the properties, in the park, even while working under potentially stressful conditions (hot or cold weather, upset visitors, etc.).
- Experience in event management and working with special events is desirable.
- Must be at least 21 years old.

- Ability to resolve conflict safely, calmly and effectively.
- Frequent walking, standing, reaching, bending and climbing stairs.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Will be exposed to occasional inclement weather including heat, humidity, cold, rain, snow, ice and wind.
