What are the responsibilities and job description for the Carbon Compliance Lead position at Offstream?
Offstream is looking for an expert in carbon compliance to join our growing team. You will be responsible for understanding various crediting and compliance frameworks in the US and globally, and will have a massive impact on the success and growth of Offstream and it’s goal to decarbonize the world.
This role reports directly into the C-Suite of our fast-growing organization.
What you will do
Serve as the expert on credit and compliance standards internally for the team and externally for our customers
Deeply understand various types of carbon and green energy project development and use that knowledge to help our customers succeed in their project development and operational journeys
Work with the engineering team to implement new carbon compliance standards and frameworks in the product
Write LCA reports for submission to compliance standard bodies - e.g. CARB, IRS, DOE, or Puro.Earth
Provide direct support to customers on carbon compliance decisions, including participating in calls and offering subject matter expertise as needed.
Share industry updates and knowledge of policy and standards changes with the company
Engage in industry working groups, policy initiatives, and thought leadership to further Offstream and the climate tech industry goals
What you will bring

3 years experience consulting for project developers or working as a VVB especially for projects in bio-energy, fuel production, or carbon removal
3 years experience completing and submitting ISO-compliant LCAs for project developers
Prior experience working on LCAs under different crediting frameworks, including but not limited to CA LCFS, IRA tax credits, and voluntary carbon market standards
Deep knowledge of the challenges faced by project developers in complying with various crediting standards
An understanding of federal and state level incentives that drive the development of green projects, including some of the following: CA LCFS, EPA RFS, IRA 45Q, 45V, 45Z
BS/MS in a technical field or relevant training experience
Passion for startups and working on a small team (aka rolling your sleeves up when the situation calls for it)
Strong communication and collaboration skills
