Job Summary:
The Assistant Director provides on-campus support to a 2200 bed community. The Assistant Director serves as the primary coordinator of residential programming, departmental assessment, training initiatives and electronic/web communication.
This position is live-in. A fully furnished university apartment that includes utilities is provided.

Scope:
Support the Office of Residence Life in a full-time, 12-month position within the Division of Student Affairs at Ohio Northern University.
Principal Responsibilities
- Serve as an ambassador/liaison for the Office of Residence Life and Division of Student Affairs.
- Assist Director with development/implementation of annual goals, training initiatives, calendar development, assessment strategies and fulfilling department/division objectives.
- Oversee the recruitment, selection, training and supervision of all para-professional staff (Resident Directors, Senior Resident Assistants, & Resident Assistants) & summer staff (ex. Clery Act compliance, systems operation, check-in & check-outs, etc.).
- Implement campus wide programming initiatives for traditional and non-traditional populations.
- Develop marketing initiatives for the office via social media and advertisements.
- Assist with Homecoming planning.
- Assist in the development and administration of assessment initiatives for the Office of Residence Life in connection with department/division/campus wide Student Learning Outcomes.
- Coordinate and implement paraprofessional staff training initiatives for Division of Student Affairs.
- Serve on designated committees and initiatives for the division of Student Affairs.
- Work directly with web-based housing software (e.g. room selection, reports, etc.).
- Manage and update the Office of Residence Life webpage and other social media outlets.
- Attend weekly residence life staff meeting with 12 paraprofessional Resident Directors.
- Co-facilitate opening and closing of residential areas and other administrative functions.
- Fulfill responsibilities of the Director and Housing Coordinator in his/her absence.
- Develop and coordinate desk operations where applicable.
- Provide on-call coverage for the Student Affairs Response Team (SART) on a rotating basis with Director.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Interpersonal Communication & Public Speaking ability.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Working knowledge of a residential campus environment.
- Critical thinking, emergency response preparedness, and a positive team oriented approach.
- Optimal interpersonal communication skills, customer service orientation, and strong statistical/analytical skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two years of professional/paraprofessional experience in related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in higher education administration or a related field with web page design and housing software experience.
