Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways and other assigned areas of the medical facility.
Responsibilities
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, Quality Assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Dusts furniture, dust mops floors, woodwork, and equipment. Polishes and cleans fixtures in Utility rooms and bathrooms.
- Operates mechanical floor cleaners, polishers, and vacuums.
- Wet mops, halls, stairways, and public areas.
- Shampoos rugs and furniture, cleans vents, fans, and other equipment using vacuum machines.
- Cleans fixtures, tops or windows, door frames, and high areas using a ladder.
- Gathers and disposes of trash and waste materials.
- Moves furniture and other heavy objects as required.
- Buffs, strips, wax, and polish floors.
- Removes waste from work area and places waste in specified bags or containers.
- Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patients’ rooms, including stripping beds, prepares room for new occupant; and follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms.
- Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls of bathrooms.
- Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- On-the-job training. Prior experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write and understand English is essential.
- Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
- Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
