Provides direct patient care and related support.
Responsibilities:
- Provides Routine Personal Care To Patients In A Timely, Safe And Effective Manner. Care May Include Bathing, Brushing Teeth, Dressing Patients And Attending To And All Of Their Personal Care Needs
- Prepares Patients For Meals, Feeds And/Or Assists With Feeding As Necessary
- Empties Bedpans And Collects Urine And Other Specimens
- Transfers Patients To And From Bed And/Or Chair Via One-Person Transfer, Two-Person Transfer, And Use Of A Hoyer Lift
- Takes Accurate Vital Signs Temperatures, Blood Pressures, Pulse, And Respiration
- Records All Necessary Information According To Policy And Procedure
- Assists Patients In Walking And In Transporting Patients By Means Of Wheel Chair Or Stretcher
- Performs ROM Using Proper Technique
- Performs other related duties
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
- No prior experience required, some preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Good interpersonal skills.
Attend ongoing educational programs to include at least 6 hours of in-service education every 6 months.
Basic ability to fully utilize KJMC's electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
Practice safety rules at all times to prevent accidents, i.e., applies bed rails and keeps rooms in order.
Licenses, Certifications:
- New York State Certification as a Nursing Attendant.
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
- Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
