POSITION TITLE: Assistant Director for Human Resources and Professional Development
REPORTS TO: Chief of Human Resources and Student Services
BEGINNING DATE: Open Until Filled; Applications Due January 7, 2025
 








KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  •  Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
  • Ability to develop and maintain harmonious and productive working relationships
  • Ability to represent the school system in a positive fashion to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
  • Proficiency with current technology
  • Knowledge of beginning teacher orientation and support strategies
  • Ability to effectively evaluate employee performance
  • Working knowledge of North Carolina School Law and Local Board of Education Policies
  • Ability to gather, compile, and interpret data from a variety of sources
  • Ability to effectively present information and training to a variety of audiences
 
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
  •  Current North Carolina Educator’s License Required
  • Masters of School Administration Degree Required
  • Minimum 5 Years Successful Educator Experience
  • Completion of Mentor Training and Educator Evaluator Training Preferred

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:  12 months
 
SALARY:  Administrator Level 3
 
FLSA Status:  Exempt
 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1.  Coordinate selected recruitment and retention initiatives for all personnel
  2. Coordinate university campus recruitment schedule
  3. Represent OCS at employee recruitment events
  4. Facilitate and coordinator Future Teachers of Onslow events and activities
  5. Serve as district level ADA Coordinator
  6. Serve as district level Title IX Investigator
  7. Facilitate orientation of new employees, including new teachers
  8. Interpret Beginning Teacher Program requirements to various audiences
  9. Provide leadership for school level Beginning Teacher Coordinators
  10. Facilitate training for new mentors and peer observers; conduct other training as needed
  11. Coordinate activities to provide support for National Board Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) licensure candidates
  12. Prepare for audits of all HR related programs
  13. Serve as NCEES District Administrator
  14. Work with university partners to place field experience and internship students
  15. Manage and schedule the Effective Teacher Training Program
  16. Draft and edit district human resources and professional development documents
  17. Facilitate the approval, scheduling, registration, and documentation of district renewal credit activities for current staff
  18. Assist with student services processes as needed
  19. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  •  Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, carry, push, or pull.
  • Ability to operate technology for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to carry furniture such as tables and chairs, supplies and materials
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds routinely and 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with staff and students.
  • Must be able to drive to variety of school sites.
