REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS POSITION REPORTS TO: Supplier Quality Manager The Supplier Quality Engineer, Level II receives assignments and general direction from the Supplier Quality Manager. Often identifies and creates own assignments based on the needs of the business. Frequently communicates and interfaces with enterprise staff (salaried and hourly), functional managers, executive management, suppliers and customers. POSITION PURPOSE (What this position is responsible for accomplishing) As a member of the Quality Department, is responsible for a wide variety of quality functions associated with the procurement of aerospace parts and assemblies. Assures compliance of procured product to dimensional and contractual requirements. Assists in the development and implementation of Supplier Performance Metrics and initiates Quality Improvement initiatives with suppliers as necessary. Performs Supplier Audits/Surveys in support of Supply chain Management (Purchasing). Customarily exercises discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties. Responsible to train and mentor Supplier Quality Engineers and Junior/Associate Supplier Quality Engineers in the general Quality Engineering principles and specific Supplier Quality applications and methods. May also be assigned additional quality projects/duties. This position is classified as a safety sensitive position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES FOR THIS JOB Key tasks and responsibilities: Sustain a high level of ethics while conducting company business in accordance with the company’s code of ethics and polices inclusive of the ASQ code of ethics Applies Strategic and Critical thinking on a continual basis as it applies to Quality Management Systems and Quality of product, both for Suppliers and the Company Perform review of Customer Contracts/Purchase Order Quality flow down requirements and Perform review of Supplier Purchase Orders Communicate, Lead and Coach inner company departments regarding Supplier Quality activities/developments and Quality objectives Communicate Supplier Quality Management program requirements to process owners, interested parties and customers Manage Approved Supplier List. Including evaluating Supplier Surveys and Approvals, Manage and Disposition Supplier Change Requests Implements Supplier Quality procedures Maintain Supplier Portal, Supplier Performance Metrics and Scorecards Develop strategies in association with Supply Chain Management/Purchasing and Engineering to identify Risks associated with doing business with current and potential suppliers Develop and implement proactive strategies in association with Supply Chain Management/Purchasing, Engineering and QA teams regarding supplier quality improvement including recommending changes to supplier’s quality programs/systems Conduct Quality/Surveys audits to assess technical/process capabilities for potential and existing suppliers, with subsequent recommendations to Supply Chain Management/Purchasing and the Company Develop and manage Supplier Nonconformance’s, MRB activities and Supplier Corrective Actions. Initiate corrective action with suppliers and/or internal departments to prevent product nonconformance re-occurrence Maintain and evolve the supplier tracking system to meet the on-going needs of the organization Provide leadership, technical training and act as a mentor for Junior/Associate Supplier Quality Engineers Provide technical assistance and training to Inspection personnel regarding mechanical inspection techniques and other product evaluation methods as needed Perform other tasks as may be assigned by management PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS (What does the employee need to do to be successful?) Participates in overall quality improvement initiatives concerning Company Goals and Objectives for Supply Chain through participation in the strategic selection of capable suppliers, development, initiation and continual improvement projects with existing suppliers. Endeavor’s to raise the level of awareness regarding supplier quality issues throughout the organization. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Requires proficient experience with aerospace products and processes. A Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university, an ASQ certification (CQE, CQA, CQM), or a minimum of 7 year’s relevant experience in aerospace products and processes in a roll for Supplier Quality Assurance / Quality Engineering. A Relevant Degree/Certification in IPC-A-610/J-STD-001 is desired. Six Sigma Black Belt desired. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrate proficiency in Quality Engineering principles and regulatory administration with 5-7 years relevant experience: FAA Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 14 Part 21, Certification Procedures for Products and Parts AS9100, ISO 9001 and ISO 9000 Quality Management System standards AS9102 First Article Inspection. DISCUS/Net Inspect Root Cause and Corrective Action Investigation e.g. Apollo Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, Five Whys, Ishikawa (Fishbone) Diagram, and Problem-Solving Methodologies/Techniques e.g. 8D, DMAIC Sig Sigma, Lean and Statistical Analysis and Process Control Tools e.g. SPC, Pareto, DPMO/PPM, etc. Mechanical Inspection Techniques. Familiar with application and use of Coordinated Measurement Machines (CMM) for product acceptance General Manufacturing and Assembly Techniques Electronic/Electrical Test Techniques Electronic/Electrical Inspection Methods and Acceptance Criteria AS9100/ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Drawing Reading and Interpretation and GD&T Solid Works / CATIA Modelling, 2D drawing creation and verification Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) Strong background in Team Building, written and verbal communication and mentoring in general Quality Methodology. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Negotiating using diplomacy, and managing conflict Coaching team members Ability to compose and implement detailed training plans related to Supplier Quality and general Quality Engineering subjects Capability of analyzing and resolving broad challenges Creating and improving processes and business systems (being process oriented) Multi-tasking (dealing with multiple things at the same time) PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION The key physical requirements of this position include regular attendance, ability to travel, ability to constantly walk and sit for long periods of time, extended periods of computer use, use of standard office equipment, and movement within a standard office and production environments. FINGER DEXTERITY: Typing, operating office equipment TALKING: Communicating accurately, conducting clear oral presentations HEARING: Able to hear normal conversations and receive information VISUAL ABILITIES: View and review documents and physical hardware/equipment; 20/20 corrected vision acceptable. Visual acuity test is required PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Constant Walking with Sedentary work; sitting long periods of time; exerts up to 35 lbs. of force occasionally WORKING CONDITIONS (Any hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions?) May be exposed to Hazardous Materials when conducting onsite audits at supplier facilities. Must ensure to adhere to suppliers Safety requirements while at supplier facilities. Must ensure to adhere to Company Safety requirements.
