What are the responsibilities and job description for the Job Developer position at OPPORTUNITY WORKS INC?
JOB SUMMARY: Under direction from the Division Directors establishes and maintains activities to develop, locate, and secure job openings for adults in Department of Developmental Services, Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, and Commission for the Deaf and Blind, and other related programs.
Clinical Support
- Provide support and counseling to people supported to assist them with developing their problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Identify interfering behavior and implement behavioral interventions and protocols and/or to provide counseling to people as needed.
- Participate in regular team meetings and clinical discussions regarding people supported.
- Engage in clinical supervisions with the Director of Employment that focus on support and improvement in job performance.
- Develop vocational opportunities for the more challenging people supported by providing behavioral supports to foster their growth and success.
Implementation of Support Plan Goals through Teaching and Training
- Understand and implement support plan goals and strategies.
- Provide ongoing training and support to people supported at current and/or new employment sites.
- Supervise/train people supported and job coaching staff at group work sites.
- Develop and implement vocational and personal skill development groups for persons served to participate in on a regular basis, including utilizing the Project SEARCH Curriculum.
- Seek out and develop community based employment opportunities for people supported based on their career plans and goals. Including the obtainment of individual employment opportunities as well as group based employment opportunities.
- Provide feedback and adjustment of techniques as a means to assist people supported to attain their personal goals and provide individualized support when necessary.
- Assess the abilities of people supported and provide constructive input in the completion of assessment tools and support plan documentation.
- Assist in obtaining, arranging and training people supported to access and utilize alternative transportation (i.e. public transportation, EZ Trans, Uber, etc.) to and from their worksites.
Advocacy/Communication
- Support and foster the growth and independence of people supported.
- Participate in support plan meetings by providing information that is based on the wishes and desires of the person supported.
- Promote increased participation in community activities and in the use of community resources.
- Work in conjunction with Program Managers and staff to schedule employment activities for people supported.
- Communicate all issues and concerns regarding people supported to the Director of Employment, Program Manager and/or appropriate person.
- Support people according to their individual communication styles and respectful of their support needs.
- Empower people supported to make choices and exercise their human rights.
Major Responsibilities
- Maintain case records in compliance with DDS and CARF regulations when applicable.

Ensure timely submission of: via online database (HCSIS)
- Annual status assessments
- Monthly progress notes
- Six month summary reports
- Quarterly check ins with the employer
- Annual evaluations of people supported (external and internal)
- Weekly activity sheets with corresponding SDRs
- MRC monthly progress notes
- Satisfaction surveys (annually)
- Update individual records, i.e., medical, emergency fact sheets, daily activity schedules, and yearly consents
- Complete Relias trainings as assigned
- Support participants at their jobs by providing initial 1:1 support and training to be able to do the job as expected. Also by fading out to allow for independence when it is appropriate to do so but providing ongoing support through frequent check-ins with the participant and employer to ensure continued success.
- Maintain communication with family members, providers, and any additional providers on the progress of the interns.
- Serve as a role model for participants in developing expected behaviors and assist in developing interactive skills.
- Relate to individuals in a manner, which maximizes human dignity, community integration and opportunities for self-direction.
- Transport individuals in own car to and from host business when no other agency vehicles or other applicable options are available. (with mileage reimbursement)
- Participate in supervision, general staff meetings and in services as scheduled
- Communicate medical and health matters to Program Manager or designee.
- Self manage case loads and maintain 3168 utilization
- Match people supported with a jobs of their interests and skill set based off of their assessments
- Attend ISPs as needed
- Performs duties such as resume writing, preparation for the interview process and meeting with the employment team for brainstorming ideas.
Documentation
- Ensure that all information regarding people supported is maintained with the highest level of confidentiality based on the policies and procedures regarding peoples protected health information.
- Complete required documentation that is accurate, completed within established timelines, and within a manner based on dignity and respect to people supported including data sheets, case notes, incident reports, seizure records, etc.
- Maintain accurate daily data collection for measurable objectives of support plan goals and data pertaining to clinical interventions.
- Complete all internally and externally required employment documentation according to internal and external requirements and timeframes.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- experience working with the DD population preferred
- Valid drivers license and ability to drive a van preferred
- Crisis intervention training (i.e. PAC) favorable
- CPR, First Aid and MAP certification preferred
