POSITION SUMMARY
The Campus Safety Officer monitors student behavior on the school campus and at select extra-curricular events; patrols and checks facilities for security; performs traffic and crowd control, responds to urgent situations, assists the Success Center staff, and greets and controls access of visitors to the campus
Reports to: Campus Safety Supervisor
Supervisory duties: None
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Enforce school policies and rules
- Observe and controls student behavior in non-classroom activities, including, but not limited to, before and after school activities, lunch period, passing periods, and special school activities such as dances, theater performances, and home athletic events
- Assist school administration in daily tasks including traffic supervision, parking regulations, lunch, break, and chapel supervision
- Refer students to an Administrator, as necessary
- Discourage disruptive and potentially dangerous behavior
- Observe, control, and reports damage to school property
- Patrol the campus, student parking, and loitering areas, as well as the surrounding off-campus area
- Secure facilities, including main buildings, classrooms, restrooms, field, and locker rooms
- Use hand-held radio for communication
- Locate students on campus; escorts students to/from classes
- May detain students or non-students until the arrival of law enforcement personnel
- Assist in the evacuation of buildings
- Assist in checking for weapons, drugs, or alcohol by established procedures
- Discuss behavior and attendance problems informally with students
- Identify and checks the presence of any unauthorized individuals on campus
- Respond to reports of injuries or emergencies
- Complete reports, as required
- Drive cart or other light vehicles around the campus
- Greet and assists campus visitors, parents, and students
- Assist faculty in classroom supervision as needed
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Additional duties as assigned
- Assist Maintenance/Custodial staff as needed
- Assist Success Center/Welcome Center staff as needed
- Attend department and faculty meetings and required school functions

Completed High School
Experience
Some paid or volunteer experience on campus or security supervision, or any combination of training, education, and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities

- Valid CPR and First Aid certifications
- TB Risk Assessment
- Ministry Safe Clearance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The employee must have the physical abilities to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above
- Frequently move about the campus, sit for extended periods, talk and hear, use hands to handle, feel, or grasp objects
- Occasionally stand, walk, push, pull, or lift, up to 50 pounds, reach with hands or arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, taste, or smell
WORK ENVIRONMENT

- The majority of work is performed in a climate-controlled school setting, with occasional outside exposure to varying weather conditions.
- The noise level is that of a typical quiet office setting with occasional exposure to moderate to loud noise at school events
