What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graduate Research Assistant position at Oregon State University?
Graduate Research Assistantship
The Department of Crop and Soil Science at Oregon State University (OSU) and the USDA-ARS Forage Seed and Cereal Research Unit have a collaborative research project available starting in Spring 2025 to supervise a full-time master’s student in the Entomology Program. The research project will explore the insecticide resistance management strategies for clover seed weevil in white clover seed crops. The objectives will be to i) investigate mechanisms of insecticide resistance selection using laboratory biochemical assays, ii) conduct field efficacy trials to evaluate new modes of action and synergists combined with broad-spectrum insecticides registered for seed weevil management, and iii) develop phenology models to predict the timing of adult and larval populations.
The position includes a tuition waiver and a monthly stipend with benefits. The candidate must be enrolled full-time in the Crop Science graduate program with the Entomology option. The student will be expected to conduct field and laboratory studies leading to refereed publications. The selected candidate will be encouraged to attend professional meetings and outreach events to present their research and will have the opportunity to develop their research ideas within the project goals. This position will be based on the main OSU campus in Corvallis, which is ranked as one of the top college towns in the country for livability.
