General Summary of the Job:
This position is responsible for coordinating and advising on all aspects of casting/splinting. This position is a Full-Time Non-Exempt position.
Essential Job Functions:
- Apply and/or remove cast/splint as ordered by physician
- Order medical supplies (casting material, medications, injectables, etc…)
- Maintain cast room
- Act as a medical assistant if all other duties with Ortho Technician are complete.
- Sterilize Instruments
- Assist with Trigger Finger procedures
- Assist with DME fittings

Education and Experience
· High School Diploma required.
· Orthopaedic Technician certification.
· Basic computer skills required.
· Experience in an Orthopaedic Practice preferred.
Performance Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Knowledge in applying/removing and/or modifying casts/splints.
- Knowledge in explaining cast/splint care to patients.
- Knowledge of compliance regulations set by state, federal and local law.
· Understanding of EPM/EHR system.
Skills:
- Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making.
- Skill in analyzing, planning, organization, and prioritization.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective internal and external working relationships.

Equipment Operated
Standard office equipment including computers, iPad, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving, mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. There is a combination of office and clinical settings.
Mental/Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms above shoulder level and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb; or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds, with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Requires working under stressful conditions. Some travel to satellite offices and meetings is required.
