What are the responsibilities and job description for the Voice Teacher - Musical Theater position at Ovation Academy for the Performing Arts?
Ovation Academy for the Performing Arts provides musical theater training for youth age 5 and up in the Oak Park area. Students take classes, perform in live musicals, and take private lessons in voice, dance, and acting.
We are currently seeking experienced voice instructors to work with young singers on a variety of goals including improved vocal range, pitch, and breathing technique. Voice students tend to fall in the 7-13 age range, with varying levels of experience.
Instructors are matched with students and use our interactive software to schedule lessons at our Oak Park studio according to their availability. Consistent weekly availability is preferred as most clients sign up for regular weekly lessons either after school or on weekends.
Qualifications
- Experience teaching singing or voice
- Experience working with young people
- Time management, reliability, and punctuality
- Musical theater background preferred
- Piano accompaniment skills preferred
Responsibilities
- Communicate actively and professionally with students and/or their parents to coordinate lessons and establish goals
- Teach lessons on-site at Madison Street Theater using one of our 4 lesson rooms
- Make notes about student progress in our Teachworks software
- Prepare students for our annual recital
