Packard Mountain Learning Center is a private infant-toddler and preschool program serving children and families throughout the Belchertown area of Western Massachusetts. Our research-based curriculum is aligned with state standards and supports a child’s on-going social-emotional, physical, language and cognitive development using the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA), playful games, and discovery projects that ignites curiosity and inspires a joy for learning. Assessment is embedded throughout each activity to document learning progress in each child’s individual learning portfolio so families can see each child’s emerging interests, learning styles and developmental level and how experiences in the classroom make real life connections to the world around them.

Overview of Responsibilities
Teacher Assistants are responsible for the care and safety of children, assisting all the learning and developmental activities, special programs, weekly and daily lesson planning, and implementation under the direction of the head teacher, and co-development of Packard Mountain Learning Center’s education practice and collaborate in the continual improvement of the organization. Teacher Assistants also follow and maintain all state mandated COVID precautions and policies for early learning centers, maintain records, cleanliness, sanitation, disinfection, and orderliness of the classroom; collaborates with head teacher to discuss child's growth and development, communicate developmental milestones or challenges; and document students' progress of learning through notes, pictures, as well as work children produce.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with Infant-Toddler or Preschool mixed age group
- Meet requirements for ongoing education, including 20 hours of training annually as required by DEEC, maintain update-to-date CPR and First Aid Training, and other professional development as Packard Mountain Learning Center’s required Full-time position
- Competent understanding of the principles of child development and infant-toddler or preschool educational methods
- Act as mandated reporter, both on and off campus
- Ability to stand, move, run, and play for the majority of the day
- Ability to lift 35 pounds
- Must be willing to adopt and implement early learning using the principles of ABA
- RBT Certification (preferred)
- Employment is dependent upon successfully passing a background check, CORI, and fingerprinting
