Assistant Teacher

Company Overview:

Pioneer Valley Montessori School is one of only two schools fully accredited by the American Montessori Society in the Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut area and has been in operation since 1964. We serve students ages 18 months - 6th grade.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Interim Assistant Montessori Teacher to join our team on a temporary basis with the possibility of becoming permanent. The interim assistant will work closely with our lead Montessori teacher to support the 3-6 year old classroom environment and facilitate the growth and development of our students.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the lead Montessori teacher in implementing the Montessori curriculum and philosophy.
• Support the preparation and maintenance of a Montessori environment that is organized, clean, and conducive to learning.
• Foster a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere where each child feels valued and supported.
• Supervise and engage children during classroom activities, outdoor play, and meal times.
• Collaborate with the lead teacher to observe and assess each child's progress and development.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
• Montessori Assistant training or willingness to complete training during employment.
• Previous experience working with children in a classroom setting, preferably in a Montessori environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively and respectfully interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
• A passion for Montessori education and a commitment to fostering each child's individual growth and development.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changing needs and priorities.

Pay: $15.50 - $18.00 per hour
