JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Parks & Golf Supervisor and specific direction of a Parks IV, performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the maintenance of the City golf course, parks, recreational spaces, trails, ball fields, and landscaped areas and in the operation of medium, light and other specialized equipment.
EXAMPLES OF TYPICAL JOB DUTIES
Involved in the installation, repair, and maintenance of irrigation systems. Troubleshoots and repairs electrical problems pertaining to irrigation systems.
Involved in the removal of snow during the winter months including plowing and hauling snow from City streets, sidewalks, trails, and City-owned buildings.

• May perform as lead worker on various projects including landscaping, irrigation and general park maintenance including snow removal operations during the winter months etc.
• Operates specialized heavy and light equipment such as front-end loaders, backhoes, mowers, utility vehicles and other similar equipment in the maintenance, construction and repair of City facilities in a safe, courteous, and professional manner. Checks and services assigned equipment performs routine maintenance and emergency repairs; reports mechanical problems to the Parks& Streets Supervisor and/or Fleet Supervisor.
• Ensures assignments such as planting, pruning, weeding, fertilization, chemical application, mowing, field maintenance, irrigation operation and repair, and special events are completed in a timely and professional manner. Assists in the training of seasonal staff on the operation of grounds maintenance equipment.

Accurately applies fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, pesticides etc. to stimulate growth or in the control of various pests and plant diseases. May be involved with specialized maintenance issues pertaining to Parks operations.
May oversee or manage contractors performing work for the City as assigned

• Ensures all City and departmental safety policies and procedures are adhered to in day to day operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other divisions, and the public

• Knowledge of landscaping, horticultural, irrigation and field maintenance practices
• Skilled in the safe application and use of chemicals and fertilizers
• Skilled in the operation of a variety of light, medium and heavy equipment under varying conditions
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Knowledge of minor equipment maintenance and repair functions
• Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to mechanized equipment operation
• Ability to work alone and make decisions
• Must have the ability to act effectively in emergency and stressful situations
• Ability to present a positive attitude toward other staff, departments and the public

• *EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• *Required:

• Must be a team player and work in cooperation with Parks and Fields.
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must have a valid Driver's License

Pay: $20.00 - $26.62 per hour
