Basic Function:

Safely ensure quality by inspecting manufactured parts and received components, containing non-conforming materials, and performing gauge calibration.

Responsibilities:

* Keep safety as a primary focus by working safely, following safety policies and work instructions, asking for help, promptly reporting safety concerns, and utilizing the Stop & Seek program, as required.

* Will have to initiate, plan and perform layout without prescribed procedures in precision inspection of patterns, castings, processed parts, in process parts and assemblies for wide variety of dimensions, interrelated dimensions, surface finishes, and other performance characteristics.

* Must have working knowledge of die casting, molding, machining and assembly procedures and be fully acquainted with, and skilled in the use of all instruments and gauges.

* Must be thoroughly familiar with making special inspection set-ups on bench, CMM, and inspection related equipment.

* Checks incoming shipments from suppliers to determine accuracy of processing and testing for composition as set by prescribed procedures and related subject matter.

* Perform SPC/Process Potential Studies, including documentation and reports.

* Provide assistance in Q@S/development and training.

* Write Inspection Reports, update and maintain records and documentation (Eng. Stds.,

* ECN's, T.A.'s, NPR's, RFC's, ISO-9000, QS-9000, Quality Stds., etc.)

* Measure, record, analyze and present data to M.E./P.E./Q.C. & Production personnel as requested.

* Utilize P.C. software to standardize output.

* Assist in root cause analysis for both internal and external non-conformance reports (inspect inventory/S.P.C. and dimensional measurement analysis/study process/change control plans/recommend actions/follow-up reporting).

* Maintain records (control plans) to P.C. format.

* Assure best use of gaging/equipment to meet accuracy and precision needs.

* Maintain organized gage/equipment storage areas with fully operational gages.

* Maintain gage control and calibration system with record addition and deletion.

* Assure timely calibration and recording.

* Assist training and development of others in gage usage and quality training.

* Assist plant mgmt., M.E., Prod. Eng. or Q.C. supervisor in disposition of N.C.M.R.'s

* Assist in supplier contact for corrective action needed or assisting in plan to correct problem.

* Assist in inter-plant quality communication with other division locations (samples, description, correspondence, verbal and written corrective action).

* Perform gage R & R studies as system and method is developed.

* Promote and practice 5S Safety approach by keeping work area neat, clean, and organized, and following safety and housekeeping rules.

* Submit waste reductions/cost avoidances.

* Positively support change initiatives by actively contributing to and participating in lean principles and Kaizen events.

* Positively and actively contribute to High Performance Teams (HPTs) by participating in team improvement boards (TIB) reviews, problem solving and task completion.

* Be a respectful team player and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all team members and supervision.

* Perform other duties as responsibilities necessitate.

Requirements:

* High School diploma or equivalent.

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.

* Good communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to adapt to changing roles and changing priorities.

* Required classes for Inspector A development program

* ASQ certification required (CQI).

Physical Requirements:

* Frequently will sit, grasp and handle.

* Reguarly will stand, lift up to 40 pounds, reach, push, and pull.

* May walk, bend, and kneel.

Working Conditions:

* A quiet environment with exposure to or use of some chemicals, oils, dirt, fumes, and moving equipment. .
