What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outpatient PTA position at Parkview Health?

Summary

Provides professional patient care and practices physical therapy by implementing and documenting treatment following evaluation by the physical therapist. Treats patients in accordance with the order from the physician and the plan of care established by the physical therapist and provides treatment through the use of a variety of therapeutic procedures and assistive devices intended to maximize functional potential in all areas of the patient’s life. Implements an individualized treatment plan based on the therapist’s evaluation and plan of care to address patient needs. Updates and revises treatment plans, as needed, throughout the treatment process and in collaboration with the supervising physical therapist. Establishes and instructs patients and families/other caregivers in exercises and therapeutic home programs to be continued following discharge. Completes the appropriate documentation in a timely manner. All care is provided in accordance with the philosophy and essential functions of the hospital, the rehabilitation department, the Indiana State Practice Act, the American Physical Therapy Association, and the Joint Commission.

Education

Must have an Associate’s degree from an accredited PTA program.

Licensure/Certification

Must hold a current license in the state of Indiana by the Health Professions Bureau of Indiana. Must be certified in CPR by American Heart or American Red Cross; or must become certified within the first 90 days of employment. Must maintain certification according to expiration date.
