What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician I - Facilities position at Pasco County?
Essential functions are fundamental job duties. Additional duties will be assigned by a supervisor.
ELECTRICAL/ALARMS: Performs preventive maintenance on electrical components, test running generators, testing fixtures, changing bulbs and batteries on all types of equipment, adjusting clocks, exit lighting, etc. and assists other trades workers with more complicated repair work. Performs related work as required.
HVAC: Performs preventive maintenance, such as filter changes on building equipment such as air conditioning/heating and refrigeration filters, water filters, oil filters, etc. Changes belts on various building equipment and adjusts tension. Checks and cleans drain pans. Assists other trades workers with more complicated repair work. Performs related work as required.
PLUMBING: Performs preventive maintenance on plumbing systems, checks leaks, snakes drains, flushes water heaters, programs and maintains irrigation systems, etc. and assists other trades workers with more complicated repair work. Performs related work as required.
CARPENTRY: Performs preventative maintenance, such as replacement of locking devices and closers and lubricating mechanical locking devices. Assists other trades workers with more complicated repairs. Performs preventive maintenance on roofs, roof inspections and minor roofing repairs. Performs touch-up painting, minor drywall repairs, hanging pictures, install shelving, repair furniture and door repair work in interior and exterior of buildings and pressure cleans exterior of buildings and sidewalks. Performs related work as required.
GENERAL: Performs record keeping on preventive maintenance activities and maintains records on equipment readings. Performs routine inspections and keeps related logs. Performs related work as required.
- Knowledge of methods and techniques used to perform basic preventive maintenance procedures on a wide variety of building equipment.
- Knowledge of basic electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools and equipment used in general building maintenance.
- Ability to read shop drawings, use standard hand tools, follows verbal and written instructions and record information on logs and forms.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills.
- Skilled in the use of common tools and shop equipment, including the use of mechanical lift equipment.
- Must be able to consistently demonstrate a positive attitude, courtesy and respect toward other departments, co-workers, management and the general public.
- Ability to lift, move, push, or pull up to 80 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, stand, and walk frequently.
- Ability to climb step and extension ladders.
PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to lift, move, push, or pull up to 80 pounds. Ability to use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to engage in heavy manual work, indoors, outdoors, and during inclement weather. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, stand, and walk frequently. Ability to climb step and extension ladders. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate of Equivalency. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in general maintenance of buildings.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
