The Senior System Administrator applies significant professional experience and training, in information technology, to the most complex assignments in maintaining network servers/operating systems, network security, and maintaining data integrity through backup/restore procedures. The incumbent provides guidance and project direction to other staff members and serves as an expert resource within the unit on systems administration issues. This position will assist management with the development procedural manuals, ensuring the documentation of changes in the systems, and provide support for the tracking of cyber security issues. The Senior Systems Administrator assists management with the training of Pascua Yaqui Employees on systems security.

- Monitor and analyze network servers, operating system's needs, assist in designing new, or modifying existing systems to meet changing requirements.
- Act as a project lead for the evaluation, selection, and installation of hardware or hardware upgrades to support end user requirements.
- Manage network integrity and maintains network security.
- Provide input to management on hardware specifications, equipment operational standards, and developing long-range equipment replacement requirements.
- Assist management with the development of operation manuals, policies, and procedures.
- Assist management with the development of a training curriculum and plan for cross training of Information Technology staff for system administration duties.
- Develop and maintain tribal wide network system security, connectivity and backup/restore procedures.
- Ensure cyber security practices, are in compliance, with Tribal directives and prepare reports for management on security issues.
- Assist management with training of PYT employees on cyber security issues and safe computer usage practices.
- Apply server service packs, upgrade server OS, drivers, firmware and other equipment as needed.
- Review OS and server application security patches for applicability on PYT servers (e.g. Microsoft monthly security updates).
- Monitor network, hard drive, and license usage.
- Establish preventive maintenance schedules for all network equipment.
- Perform server, data backups, and e-mail system archiving on a scheduled basis.
- Create network users and grant necessary security as mandated by department directors and PYT policy.
- Maintain Windows Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, etc.
- Participate in on-call rotation.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.

Special Requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License;
- This position will require the incumbent to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends;
- Must have a current Homeland Security Background Clearance or be able to obtain a Homeland Security Background Clearance within ninety (90) days of hire. Failure to maintain a Homeland Security Background Clearance will result in termination from this position.
