The Role You Play
The Budget Coordinator is responsible for developing detailed budgets for Pawnee's management team, and ensuring they align with our organizational goals and any financial constraints. Throughout the year, they will also ensure compliance with the approved budgets. They will create financial forecasts and other finance reports for the CFO and other leaders as requested and serve as a financial advisor for the departments.

The Budget Coordinator will provide support to our organization in the following key areas:
Budget Preparation and Analysis
- Develop and prepare detailed budgets in collaboration with C-Suite and program directors.
- Analyze budget proposals, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial constraints.
- Monitor expenditures and ensure compliance with approved budgets.
- Create financial forecasts based on historical data and current trends.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for CFO, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
- Identify and investigate variances between actual and budgeted figures, offering insights for corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Provide guidance on budgetary requirements and compliance issues.
- Serve as a financial advisor to departments, offering insights and solutions for budget-related concerns.
- Assist in financial planning for special projects and grant applications.
- Assist with PPS rate calculations, projections, and variances as well as Audit data prep.
- Assist with visit count tracking and identify areas of opportunities.
- Assist with monthly billing review, identify potential areas of growth, and help increase collection rate.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 years of professional experience in budgeting, financial analysis, or related roles.
- Personal computer skills, hands-on knowledge of accounting systems, electronic health records, and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Advanced degree or certification (e.g., CPA, CFA, or CMA) is a plus.
- Ten or more years of professional accounting experience.
- Experience in a healthcare setting, behavioral/mental health strongly preferred.
- Experience with SAGE Accounting suite.
- Experience with non-Excel Microsoft Office programs.
