What are the responsibilities and job description for the Beverage Manager position at Peachtree Catering and Events?
Position Summary:
Peachtree Catering and Events, is a catering and event production firm in Radnor, Pennsylvania. The Beverage Manager must work with efficiency, professionalism, awareness & initiative. Peachtree caters to an expansive clientele at four exclusive venues as well as off-premise catering events
The Beverage Manager is responsible for creating a presence that is consistent with the mission of Peachtree Catering and Events. The Beverage Manager oversees all alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage purchases at Peachtree. She/He/They will handle all ordering, packing, consumption reports, and inventories. This person is responsible for setting standards in bar service as well as training existing and new hires to execute these standards. She/He/They are responsible for creating new craft cocktails to add to our menu regularly.
Responsibilities:
- Handle all beverage purchasing: beer, wine, liquor, soda, juice, coffee, specialty mixers, ice, paper goods, dry products
- Pull and pack for all events per week. Clearly label for ease of packing out and follow all standardized pars
- Complete monthly inventories on 1st of the month, adjusting for pricing changes, bottle sizes, PLCB sales, etc
- Ensure the bartenders record event consumption by event and then record digitally
- Keep pars on bar kit items
- Standardize bartender training at each venue and develop setup guides for each venue and off-premise events. Document these for training purposes
- Check-in on bartender progress after training is complete by observing shifts.
- Assist Staffing Manager with assessing the bar team and staffing all events with the best ratio and mix of employees for that event’s success
- Assist Staffing Manager with interviewing bartender candidates. Onboard all approved bar hires
- Maintain RAMP certification list, new employee orientation per PLCB, and manage new staff member RAMP training
- Develop one new cocktail per group tasting. After the tasting work with the event coordinators to determine any adjustments that need to be made to said cocktails based on client feedback
- Assist Senior Operations Manager with wine lists and seasonal selections
- Yearly, evaluate the beverage packages and collaborate with the team on changes
- Provide regular pricing guidance and recommendations to the event coordinators
- Apply for the PLCB permits for all events not taking place at Pomme at which alcohol is being purchased from Peachtree by the client
Qualifications:
- Exceptional initiative, creativity, multi-tasking, negotiating, and listening skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated, energetic, detail and deadline-oriented, and capable of working independently
- Basic office management skills including the ability to use the telephone, computer, scanner, printer, internet, and Excel
- Ability to work extended hours which will include weekends and nights. Willing to be on call when necessary
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to mentor new hires to a level of success in the company
- Demonstrate a professional attitude and appearance at all times
