PSV has an exciting employment opportunity for a Medical Scribe to join our dedicated team of healthcare professionals! This specific role will be supporting our Orthopedic Clinic in our Ashburn, VA location. There may be some travel to support our Fairfax, VA location. This role is working full-time.
Overview
The role of the Medical Scribe is to provide outstanding support to physicians and healthcare providers. The Medical Scribe is responsible for real-time charting for physicians by shadowing them throughout their shifts and performing a variety of helpful tasks. The Scribe will be assigned a doctor or physician assistant to work alongside. The Scribe is in the room during each evaluation, documenting directly from the patient and provider conversation.
Job Description
• Coordinates with clinic staff to ensure a positive patient flow, waiting room, and exam room experience.
• Assists provider with collection, documentation, processing, and verification of information related to patient care in an EMR system.
• Communicates patient concerns and needs to the healthcare provider.
• Provides timely responses to patient inquiries and timely completion of assigned tasks.
• Assists in routine clerical functions such as filing of medical information inpatient's records, locating and compiling department charts, obtaining medical records from other providers and entering charges for billing purposes.
• Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms and requisitions as needed.
• Organizes medical records, including lab results, progress notes, etc. to ensure provider has all of the necessary information available during the patient's encounter.
• Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include; cleaning exam /procedure rooms, between patient visits; ordering, sorting, storing supplies; restocking exam / procedures rooms.
• Adheres to and employs appropriate sterile techniques and universal precautions guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required
• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Demonstrated computer skills with data entry software
• Understanding of medical terminology
• At least two (2) years of experience in a medical group practice or similar situation
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and Outlook)
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external departmental contacts
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• All employees must pass an employment TB, drug and physical exam
Desired Qualifications
• At least one (1) year of experience in a pediatric medical office
• At least one (1) year of demonstrated customer service experience
• Experience working with an EMR system
