Overview
The Pediatric Hematology Nurse Coordinator will work within the PSV Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Schar Cancer Institute to coordinate clinical care for benign hematology patients, including sickle cell and hemoglobinopathies, red cell disorders, bone marrow failure syndromes, platelet, and white cell disorders.
Job Description:
- Coordinate the Pediatric Sickle Cell and Hemoglobinopathy Program – this is a major responsibility
- Nurse coordinator for general benign hematology
- Responsibilities include coordinating outpatient clinical care, interacting with physicians, NPs/PAs, nurses, social workers, psychologist, education consultant, coordinating referrals and consultations with other specialists, assisting in implementation of treatment plans and health maintenance, and following up on test and study results.
- Function as patient educator
- Support transition of young adult patients to adult care
- Maintain patient databases
- Assist as research nurse
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- One (1) year of experience in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
- Registered Nurse currently licensed in Virginia;
- All employees must pass an employment TB, drug and physical exam
Desired Qualifications:
- BSN
- Two (2) years of RN work experience
