A Network Engineer is needed in our Network Operations Center to research, design, implement and troubleshoot Blue Ridge Internet/Phone Solutions and Core Networking,
Duties include:
- Deploying and configuring network equipment
- Understanding Wi-Fi fundamentals and networking
- Providing a high level of technical understanding for problems
- Interacting with hardware and software vendors when troubles need intervention
- Using escalation standards and personal judgment to ensure timely resolution of problems
- Research and development of new and emerging technologies
- Providing training and support to employees
- Accepting and resolving escalated trouble tickets from our Level II Tech Support
- Managing time-sensitive projects
- Working On-Call shift rotations with other members of the department
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Networking Technology, or Networking Experience in an ISP or Large Enterprise Role
- Valid PA Driver's License and good driving record
- Residency in Pennsylvania and ability to come into the Palmerton office as required
- Experience with Cisco Service Provider hardware and software (Cisco CMTS, Routers, Switches)
- Experience with Windows Server, Linux, and Unix (Solaris) Operating Systems
- General knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting with dynamic routing protocols
- Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANS, SNMP , BGP and OSFP
- Network Fundamentals and Familiarity with Cisco IOS, IOS-XE and IOS-XR
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with various security tools, system logs and packet captures, including Syslog, XDR, SIEM, IDS/IPS, and Vulnerability scanners
- Experience with Firewall principles and Access Lists
- Understanding of HFC Cable Plant, RF Spectrum, and Cable Provider Headend configuration
- Understanding of DOCSIS standards, CMTS
- Understanding key aspects of Network Security, including Risk Assessment and Security Policies
- Computer Scripting Skills for routine task automation and playbooks: Python, Ansible
- Exceptional Communication Skills - Oral and Written
- Excellent Troubleshooting Skills
- Organizational & Time Management Skills
- Record Keeping and accurate documentation Skills
- Project Management Skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues during off-work hours and/or extended hours to ensure project/outage needs are addressed.
- Willingness to learn all aspects of NOC responsibility, including Optical and RF design, specs and troubleshooting as well as Video Network Solutions (including Video Encoding, Cable Set-Top Boxes, IP TV and Video On Demand)
