Principal


WORK WEEK SCHEDULE
Monday - Friday


WORK HOURS
6:50 AM -3:00 PM; occasional evenings



POSITION PURPOSE
Promotes student achievement through prevention and/or response to behavior and assists students with academics to prevent learning loss.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to effectively communicate both oral and written between teachers, counselors, and administration, and with parents/families
Knowledge of school's policies, procedures, and practices
Demonstrates tolerance of culturally and linguistically diverse populations o Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to multi-task and possess strong organizational skills o Ability to work through behavior issues and motivate students
Ability to maintain complete and accurate documentation and to develop meaningful reports from the information collected.


EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE


Minimum of High School diploma



SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Ability to work flexible hours (some evenings)



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Intervene with behavior issues, allowing students to deescalate in situations affecting student educational progress
Communicate with students to problem solve and offer alternatives to negative behaviors

 

Utilize restorative practices to build or strengthen relationships
Daily check in/check out with identified students
Builds relationships and open communication with teachers, counselors, administrators, and families Explains to parents/families the school's expectations for students
Organizes parent meetings as requested by parents


Assist students with assignments missed due to behavior


Maintain accurate case records and documentation

 


WORKING CONDITIONS

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS


Must be able to use a variety of office equipment such as computers and copiers Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds
Due to the amount of time spent working on the computer, standing and walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for light work


WORK ENVIRONMENT


Must be able to work in public school environments, and come into direct contact with staff and students
