REPORTS TO Principal/After School Program Director

 

WORK WEEK SCHEDULE Monday - Friday

 

WORK HOURS 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM

 

MONTHS/YR 10

 

POSITION PURPOSE Responsible for overall 21st CCLC program management and partnership development at a specific school site.

 

POSITION ANALYSIS The Student Support Specialist will adhere to Pender County School’s policies to identify and assess the needs of identified at-risk youth, while coordinating interventions and supports to the whole school population; and plan, manage, coordinate, and supervise dayto-day operations of the 21st CCLC afterschool program on site.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated passion and commitment to students, families and the community

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Public speaking and presentation skills

Strong project management skills

Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, completing assignments in a thorough, accurate and timely manner

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, public administration, social services or related field is required. Certified teacher or Licensed School Counselor preferred. 2 years of applicable work experience in the education field. Valid North Carolina driver’s license and insurance

Sensitivity to and strong concern for the needs of children, youth and their families

Technologically proficient in all office technology systems including developing spread sheets, word processing, email

 

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

Teaching Certificate Preferred

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Coordinate successful knowledge of the MTSS model and Student Support Standards.

Collaborate with school staff to assess, identify and prioritize student needs based on academic, attendance, and behavioral data.

Ability to assess student needs to develop and coordinate appropriate interventions based on student data and available resources.

Conduct an annual needs assessment using multiple sources of data, to be used as the foundation for the school support plan.

Collaborate, noting Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions and supports.

Provide overall case management to identified students and deliver evidence-based interventions and supports, based on student and school needs.

Regularly and systematically collect, enter and report student data.

Connect with parent or legal guardian of identified case managed students to obtain written consent to work with their student (Parent Permission Form).

Provide timely reports with data and program information to direct supervisor.

Recruit, train and manage community volunteers as needed.

Provide leadership, as requested, in securing community resources and partners beneficial in improving students’ academic, behavioral, and attendance needs.

Participate in personal and professional staff development.

 

Afterschool Specific Responsibilities:

Supervise and implement after school programming for students referred based on risk factors impeding academic performance.

Recruit, monitor and evaluate student enrollment in the afterschool program.

Supervise the implementation of enrichment activities during after school programing, including but not limited to academic enrichment opportunities, tutoring services, guest speakers, college and career readiness activities, healthy life style choices, field trips and service learning.

Provide guidance and training of staff with day to day operations.

Submit requested program reports and other documentation to the Program Director in a timely manner.

Serve as after school program’s main contact for staff and families.

Ensure distribution and collection of surveys for evaluation purposes through the year for school administration and faculty, families, students, and after school, staff.

Collect and submit after school program staff timesheets to the Program Director.

Ensure activities are aligned with curriculum needs and standards of the school.

Assess students’ needs and interests to design effective programming.

Maintain accurate student attendance, lesson plans and volunteer records.

Collaborate with Pender County Schools Program Director to achieve the goals and objectives of the 21st CCLC grant.

Ability to work in a team atmosphere

Ability to work across teams and with multiple supervisors, both on and off-site

Must be able to lift 20 pounds

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to work in office and public school environments and come into direct contact with staff and students

Some travel may be required to schools and Central Services offices
