What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at PENN ENGINEERING?
Job Summary
This position provides shop floor support to maximize the operating efficiency of the department. The water spider will be responsible to maintain the raw material warehouse and complete the chip and oil separation process, if requested. In a support role, the water spider delivers materials to the machines, takes away finished work, provides raw material etc. so that the operators can focus on their machine responsibilities.
Essential Functions
- Observes all safety regulations in the performance of all duties
- Responsible for the unloading and loading of the freight
- Delivers raw material, work orders, tools and gages to the primary machines in predetermined interval or as needed
- Delivers working materials such as baskets, bins, oils, solvents, etc.
- Supports department to enable maximum efficiency
- Communicates with team leaders and other employees to discuss job related issues and process improvements.
- Cleans the shop and performs some maintenance tasks as needed.
- Prior to using the fork truck at the beginning of shift, water spider inspects lift and sign off the daily lift truck inspection checklist.
Tasks
- Work with Shipping and Receiving to manage inbound/outbound materials
- Moves material to warehouse in accordance to the material floor plan.
- Delivers and loads raw material and keeps each wire KANBAN space filled with next coil.
- Removes packaging from raw material, bins and baskets
- Delivers oils and other maintenance items to the machine areas.
- Removes completed product from the machines and delivers them to the next operation.
- Maintains 2 ID tags on all raw material stands.
- Is responsible for the cleanliness of the raw material warehouse, warehouse aisles, dock and unload areas.
- Reports all equipment problems and safety issues to the team leader immediately.
- Reports all damaged done by the operated equipment immediately to the team leader or supervisor.
- Performs other tasks as required.
