Description
DUTIES: Under the general supervision of the Sales and Events Coordinator, the Zoo Event Planning Intern is responsible for:
- Assisting in the operation of events at the Zoo and Luthy Botanical Garden including the set up and tear down of the events.
- Assist in maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of all designated areas of the event space.
- Assisting full-time staff with routine duties during the course of an event.
- As part of the internship program, all interns will assist in several Peoria Park District signature events, as assigned.
- Participate in professional development sessions and team building activities as assigned.
- Following all Peoria Park District rules, policies, and procedures.
- Following all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed; supporting all aspects of the Park District's safety program.
- Performing all other duties as assigned.
- This is a grant funded position that is available for college undergraduates up to 20 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds required.
Qualifications
Education: Status as a current Undergrad College student.
Experience: Previous hospitality, special events and culinary experience preferred.
Knowledge and Ability:
- Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work.
- Ability to follow picture-based event layouts.
