Description
Duties: Under the supervision of the Parks & Recreation Maintenance Manager perform all duties assigned for the maintenance of park properties. This includes various operations, such as:
- Athletic field maintenance and preparation for games.
- Set up and take down for special events.
- Delivery of special event equipment including tables, chairs, canopies, etc.
- Mowing with push mower or riding mower.
- Trimming with power weed trimmers or manually.
- Emptying garbage barrels and picking up litter.
- Cleaning and maintaining public restrooms.
- Maintenance of all equipment.
- Report any unsafe athletic field conditions, vandalism, unusual condition, emergency situation, or incident to the Parks & Recreation Maintenance Manager immediately.
- Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed. Support all aspects of the Park District Safety Program.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to reach, walk, squat and bend at the waist and knees.
- Ability to operate power machinery relative to job duties.
- Ability to apply pesticides safely
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications
Education High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Requirements
- Must be at least 17 years of age.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and special events.
- Employees must wear steel toe shoes and Park District staff shirt.
- Knowledge and Ability
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Aptitude for on the job training.
- Ability to work well with Park District personnel.
- Deal effectively and courteously with the public.
- Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
