Staff Development Coordinator
The staff development coordinator and infection preventionist at PRCC will focus on training and developing nursing staff, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills to provide high-quality care. This position involves planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs, as well as coordinating orientation and onboarding for new employees. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining staff competency and compliance with regulations. This position will act as the infection preventionist for the facility and will collect and analyze infection data, provide education and training and implement evidence-based infection control practices including those mandated by regulatory and licensing agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training and Education:
Designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs for nursing staff, including in-services, continuing education, orientation programs and overseeing the state certified nursing assistant program.
- Onboarding:
Coordinating the onboarding process for new nursing staff, ensuring they are properly trained and integrated into the facility.
- Competency Assessment:
Assessing and maintaining staff competency in various nursing skills and procedures.
- Quality Improvement:
Participating in quality improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Resource Person:
Serving as a resource for nursing staff, providing guidance and support on clinical and operational matters.
- Compliance:
Ensuring staff compliance with facility policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Documentation:
Maintaining accurate records of training and education activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Nursing License: requires a Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
- Teaching/Education Experience: Prior experience in teaching or staff development is preferred.
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Essential for effective training delivery and building relationships with staff.
- Organizational and Planning Skills: Needed to manage training programs and coordinate staff development activities.
- Knowledge of Nursing Practices and Regulations: Crucial for developing and delivering relevant training content.
