The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the general accounting operations, including ensuring the integrity of financial records, maintaining compliance with GAAP, and supporting month-end close processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can handle the complexities of multi-entity and multi-location operations.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Accounting Operations
- Perform day-to-day general ledger accounting, journal entries, and reconciliations across multiple manufacturing sites
- Maintain chart of accounts and ensure consistency in coding and account classifications
- Support intercompany transactions and reconciliations
Month End Close
- Lead and assist in month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Prepare and post journal entries for depreciation, amortization, prepaids, and other recurring adjustments
- Ensure all close activities meet internal deadlines and reporting requirements
Account Reconciliations & Analysis
- Perform and review balance sheet account reconciliations (e.g., inventory, fixed assets, payables, receivables)
- Analyze financial results and investigate discrepancies or unusual trends
Audit & Compliance
- Support external audit processes, providing schedules and documentation as required
- Ensure accounting policies and procedures comply with GAAP and internal controls
Process Improvement & System Support
- Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes and systems
- Assist in the implementation or upgrade of ERP systems and related tools
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred but not required
Experience
- 5–8 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or multi-site environment
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal control frameworks
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor)
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with reporting tools or BI platforms is a plus
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
